Sen. John McCain to receive 2017 Liberty Medal

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- U.S. Senator John McCain will be recipient of this year's Liberty Medal.

The National Constitution Center says the Arizona Republican is being honored for his lifetime of service and sacrifice.

McCain was captured during the Vietnam war and served as a P.O.W. before a decades-long political career that saw him selected as the Republican nominee for President in 2008.

Former Vice President Joe Biden will present McCain with the Liberty Medal on October 16th.
