Police say a family fight led to a stabbing inside the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County, Pennsylvania Wednesday night.
It was approximately 10:26 p.m. when police responded to the hospital, located at 1 Medical Center Boulevard in Upland Borough.
Upon their arrival officers spoke to the victim, described as an elderly man, who had suffered multiple lacerations.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was tending to his wife, who was seeking treatment in the emergency room.
It was in the emergency room that the victim and a family member, identified as John David Hood, got into a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical altercation after the victim allegedly asked Hood to keep the noise down.
During the fight Hood allegedly produced a fixed bladed kitchen knife and attacked the victim. He was immediately subdued by Crozer security and is now in custody with Upland Police.
Hood is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a deadly weapon, and reckless endangering another person. He is being held on $1 million cash bail.
The victim suffered lacerations and was treated by the medical staff. He is in stable condition.
The victim's relationship to Hood remains unclear.
No Crozer employees or bystanders were harmed during the incident.
