Farmers are used to ever-changing conditions, but a recent cold snap has hit some crops in the Garden State especially hard.
PHILADELPHIA - The first full day of spring also marked the first volunteer day at Nice Roots Farm, an urban farm working to fight food insecurity in Philadelphia as part of Share Food Program.
"He was our hero, and now to see this, it's just devastating," John QuiƱones told Eyewitness News, sharing his insight as a former farmworker himself who looked up to Chavez.
"I can no longer stay silent and must share my own experiences," Huerta said.
Chavez founded the United Farm Workers of America and dedicated his life to improving the rights of farm workers until his death in 1993.
