Verizon FiOS internet service is back in Gloucester County, New Jersey, after homes and businesses lost connection for several days.
The payout is at least $15 and might be more depending on how long the customer used Verizon and the number of customers who file a claim.
Accounts affected by a nationwide outage earlier this week can be reimbursed with a $5 credit, AT&T announced in an email sent to customers.
A temporary network disruption that affected AT&T customers in the U.S. Thursday was caused by a software update gone wrong, according to preliminary information from two sources familiar with the situation.
Verizon customers could soon be eligible for part of a proposed $100 million class action settlement.
"This is a dangerous and illegal practice that potentially could impact lives," a Verizon spokesperson said.
