HOLMESBURG (WPVI) -- A crash involving at least two vehicles that jammed traffic on I-95 in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia has cleared, but an extensive traffic backup remains.
The collision happened before 6:30 a.m. Thursday in the northbound lanes between the exits for Academy and Woodhaven roads.
Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed a dark colored sedan which appeared to have spun around, blocking two lanes.
Two tractor-trailers were parked nearby. They appeared to have collided.
Action News is told injuries resulted from the crash. There was no immediate word on the number or extent of those injuries.
Traffic was backed up for miles as police investigated and crews worked to clear the wreckage.
The scene was finally cleared by 8 a.m., but delays from the crash persisted.
Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
