ATHENS, Ga. -- An Uber driver is accused of being a Peeping Tom and burglarizing sorority girls' homes in Georgia.
Some University of Georgia students said security video shows Patrick McElroy lurking around their house and peering through the windows. Afterwards they found one of the bedrooms ransacked.
"He took our laptops, everything. He also went through my personal journal, which was very violating. But he also took little loves notes and things. I don't know why he would do that," student Samantha Folk told WSB.
Police said they are looking into whether McElroy was involved in other burglaries of students' homes. Kristin Brady came home from her sorority formal and found her home had been ransacked, her security camera caught a man lurking around her windows.
"They took passports, they took all of our credit cards, prescriptions, anything they could take," student Kristin Brady said.
She said she a week after the burglary, she had been picked up by an Uber driver she later identified as Patrick McElroy.
"I think he was trying to get some information from girls, just talking and gossiping trying to find out where everyone was going," Brady said.
An Uber representative said they take these matters seriously and that they are looking into the case.
