ABINGTON, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Coach Randy Garber's dedication to Abington Senior High School started as a student in the 1960s.
Garber played varsity soccer for three years and graduated in 1971. He went on to play professionally in the North American Soccer League and won the championship in 1975.
Little did he know he'd be called a champion again 50 years later.
But first, he had to return home to Abington. He started coaching soccer in the early 1990s and also became a physical education teacher.
And after three decades working with students on and off the field, Garber reached new heights in 2025.
His team, flanked by former player and assistant coach Isaac Pitkow, enjoyed a season full of victories.
And although they lost the district finals, they earned a chance to compete in the 2025 PIAA 4A Boys' Soccer Championship.
Four straight victories later, Garber hoisted the trophy with his team by his side.
He says this year will be his last as head coach. He's undecided as to whether or not it will also be his last year teaching physical education.
But he says the future of Abington soccer is in good hands.
