RED HILL, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Red Hill VFW Post 5954 is a place where veterans gather to feed their souls, and in turn, help fellow vets find hope.
The post was founded in the mid-20th century by World War II vets and has been passed on from generation to generation.
One of their goals is to help homeless veterans get back on their feet. But there is only so much transitional housing available in the community.
That's why they purchased the property next-door, transforming it into an outreach center.
After the proper permits are acquired, their goal is to use the second floor as transitional housing for up to two homeless veterans.
One way they support this cause is by hosting a monthly breakfast fundraiser.
The Red Hill VFW opens their doors to help any veteran, not just those who saw combat.
