Pilots help patients reach medical care through Angel Flight East

BLUE BELL, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Local pilots volunteer their time to transport patients far and wide to access specialized medical care.

It all happens thanks to an organization called 'Angel Flight East.'

Based at Wings Field in Blue Bell, Angel Flight East connects patients to a network of hundreds of volunteer pilots. They operate across the northeastern United States from Virginia to Maine to Ohio.

Angel Flight relies on donations to keep operations running. Their annual gala will take place on Friday, March 27, 2026, and will recognize John Solt as pilot of the year.

Watch our video above to see how pilots Warren Hopely and Jide Olusanya recently helped Edward Joseph James get back home from an important appointment.
