VINELAND, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Cohansey Premier Soccer Club wears their hearts on their sleeve and Coach Dan's name on their back.
Beloved father and mentor, Dan Sepers, suddenly passed away last year after what was believed to be a heart-related issue. He was 41 years old.
One of the last things Coach Dan ever did was celebrate a victory at the 2025 NPL Finals in Denver Colorado.
The tragedy occurred just before his team, the Cohansey Soccer Club, began their most recent season.
Dan's son, Jake, is an athlete on the team. He and his teammates decided to dedicate the whole season to Coach Dan.
They wore custom patches on their shirts and frequently energized each other by saying, 'Do it for Dan.' One player etched 'L.L.D.' on his wrist tape before each game, standing for 'Long Live Dan.'
They also converted Dan's scholarship for graduating students into a memorial fund.
This month, Cohansey Soccer Club will compete in their second national championship of the year.
Although they fell short in the first, they hope to win the next title in Dan's name.
The team is currently fundraising to send the team members to Utah for the competition on July 13-23, 2026.
