Fmr. Philly cop shot in the line of duty gives back by giving blood

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The American Red Cross and 6abc are gearing up for a Blood Drive on Giving Day later this month.

Blood Drives have helped people like Ashley Hoggard.

The former Philadelphia police officer was shot in the line of duty and saved by six bags of blood.

He knows firsthand the importance of blood donations, and is now paying it forward.

Christie Ileto has his story.

2025 6abc Blood Drive

The annual 6abc Philly Blood Drive is happening on March 26.

It will be held at three locations: the Wynnefield Heights section of Philadelphia; in Doylestown, Pennsylvania; and in Collingswood, New Jersey.
