SEWELL, New Jersey (WPVI) -- Debra Michaels remembers what it was like battling ovarian cancer.
That's why she gives back each year by delivering care packages and singing Christmas carols with her music students.
Michaels is the founder of Drop the Mic Vocal Studio and the Yo Cuz / Kidz 4 Cuz Foundation. Through each, she promotes charitable causes with the help of her community.
Each year, she and her music students gather to fill care packages to deliver to patients. They also host a concert that raises funds for the donations.
Then, they visit the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of Jefferson Health. Michaels received treatment there during her battle with cancer.
It was the kinship she developed with Dr. Robin R. Wilson-Smith that snowballed into this annual campaign.
Watch the video above to see how they give back, and learn about one special volunteer who they memorialize by doing so.
