"Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" earned a leading eight nominations Wednesday, with nods for director Lee Daniels, star Gabourey Sidibe (GA'-bah-ray SIH'-duh-bay) and supporting actors Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique, Paula Patton and Lenny Kravitz. The film also was nominated for outstanding motion picture and outstanding independent film, adding to its awards-season momentum.
The Image Awards honoring diversity in the arts will be presented Feb. 26 and broadcast live on Fox.
