1 dead after car crashes into pole in South Philadelphia
One person was killed in a crash in Southwest Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- One person was killed in a crash in Southwest Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. near Island Avenue and Lindberg Boulevard.

Arriving officers located a 2015 silver Chevy Equinox with front end damage on the trolley tracks.

Police say the SUV struck a SEPTA utility pole, resulting in the pole collapsing on the vehicle.

The 46-year-old male driver and a 36-year-old male passenger were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center for minor injuries.

A 45-year-old male was found in the back seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
