Police say a 16-year-old boy playing basketball at a playground was stabbed in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.

GRAYS FERRY (WPVI) -- Police say a 16-year-old boy playing basketball at a playground was stabbed in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.

The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. Monday on the 2900 block of Wharton Street.

The victim was surrounded by six men with black t-shirts around their heads.

One of the males pushed him, pulled out a box cutter and sliced him on the back twice before walking away.

He was taken to Children's Hospital where he was treated and released.

According to officials, the victim is not cooperating with the police.
