Woman struck, killed seconds after getting out of rideshare in Philadelphia's Eastwick section
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Talyia Bernice Nesmith of Philadelphia, according to police.
PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 29-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle just seconds after getting out of a rideshare in Southwest Philadelphia's Eastwick section early Monday morning.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Talyia Bernice Nesmith of Philadelphia, according to police.
Police say Nesmith was getting dropped off in the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue just before 3:30 a.m. when a black vehicle, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, struck her.
Officials say Nesmith was hit with such force that police said she was launched into the back of a nearby parked vehicle before landing on the sidewalk.
After striking Nesmith, the suspect vehicle then also hit a parked car before fleeing the scene.
Nesmith was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Police believe the striking vehicle is a black 2020-2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat or Scat Pack Widebody. Investigators release photos of a vehicle similar to the one believed to be involved in the crash.
The Crash Investigation Division is actively investigating the incident.
