New Castle County police believe the suspect is connected to more than 10 burglaries in the area since November.
NEW CASTLE CO., Del. (WPVI) -- New Castle County police are searching for a suspect accused of burglarizing several homes last month.
Authorities say the burglaries happened along Foulk Road, Fairfax Boulevard, Darley Road, and nearby areas.
"It's awful. I feel bad. It could happen to anybody," said Kim Stoklosa.
Stoklosa, who lives on Fairfax Blvd. in Wilmington, said her neighbor is one of the victims.
"He was good. A little frustrated, but his family is safe, that's all he cared about," said Stoklosa.
New Castle County police believe the suspect is connected to more than 10 burglaries in the area since November. The last reported incident was on December 7.
"It's crazy," said Bill Johnston from Claymont. "The world today is just crazy. You gotta be careful."
Police said some locations of the crimes are just minutes apart, including the 2200 block of Fairfax Boulevard to Foulk Road to the 600 block of Darley Road in Claymont, which is where Johnston lives.
"It's horrifying to know that somebody could just walk in the middle of the night while you're sleeping," said Johnston. "We're going to start locking up our doors at night and making sure all of our windows are closed."
Police believe the suspect picks houses by approaching the front door to see if anyone is inside and then will break in through a back or side door or window.
Detectives said however in one case, when the suspect checked the door and noticed a camera, the suspect pretended to deliver a package by scanning it with a phone before quickly leaving.
Residents said they'll remain vigilant until the criminal is in custody.
"Watch yourself because there is a ton of great cameras out there and social media; everyone is on it," said Johnston. "They share things very easily today, so you're going to get caught."
New Castle County police believe the suspect is using a white or light-colored vehicle.
