PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 2-year-old girl who was last seen at a park in Philadelphia's Fox Chase section was found safe on Monday, police said.

Officials say she was frightened and cold, but unharmed.

"It was a good outcome and everybody is happy the girl has been found and reunited with her family," said Capt. John Ryan, with the Philadelphia Police Department.

The frantic search for the young girl began at sundown on Sunday. She was last seen just before 8 p.m. in the 900 block of Tustin Street.

The girl's mother and siblings were having a BBQ in Champions Park to celebrate the end of Ramadan when she vanished.

"There was a bunch of children there, too, and a lot of people in the park and just wandered away around 7:45 last night," Ryan said.

That's when a police search ensued, but darkness ended it.

When it resumed Monday morning, a Good Samaritan said she found the girl around 8 a.m.

"A young lady from the neighborhood and familiar with the park located her in brush on a hillside," Ryan said. "Probably, best guess, 400 yards from the playground."

The little girl was evaluated at St. Christopher's Children's Hospital and is said to be doing fine. She has since been reunited with her family.
