TRAINER BOROUGH, Pa. (WPVI) -- Police investigated for hours early Monday after a hit-and-run crash left a pedestrian dead in Trainer.
Officers responded to the 4300 block of West 9th Street around 2:45 a.m. for a report of a person struck by a car, according to authorities.
Officials said the victim went into cardiac arrest immediately after the crash and died at the scene. The vehicle involved did not stop, and officers have not released a description of the car or identified any suspect.
Investigators remained on scene for several hours, collecting evidence along the side of the road.
Residents in the area said speeding has been a concern.
One neighbor described the roadway as problematic, calling it "a nightmare."
"I can't imagine what goes through someone's mind who hits someone and keeps going. How do you have no compassion, no feelings, no nothing," said Leona Engelbrecht.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing.
The victim has not been identified, and officials have not released further details about the vehicle or who they are looking for.
