Pa. cyclist completes 10th cross-state ride in memory of mother
John Matthews founded 'Ride Hard Breathe Easy,' roaring his bicycle around the country to help lung cancer patients like his late mother.

CHELTENHAM, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- John Matthews of Cheltenham created 'Ride Hard Breathe Easy' in memory of his mother, who passed away after a brief battle with lung cancer in 2011.

The nonprofit that raises funds for lung cancer patients and does annual long bike rides.

In 2026, their 10th ride took Matthews and a group of friends from New Hampshire to New Jersey across 5 days.

They have raised roughly $30,000 this year and report $1.3 million in lifetime fundraising.
