Former Eagles player tackles career, amputation in new book

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Kevin Reilly returned to his alma mater, Salesianum School in Wilmington, to talk about his new book, "Tackling Life: How faith, family, friends and fortitude kept an NFL Linebacker in the game."

Reilly's career ended when a rare tumor forced doctors to amputate his left arm, shoulder, and five ribs.

He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 1973 and went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots.

Reilly, who is a motivational speaker, says, "The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. Faith, family, friends, and fortitude - with these four pillars, you can and will survive."
