Authorities say a man has been arrested in a traffic crash that injured an off-duty police officer who had stopped to help a motorist who was stranded by an earlier accident. Delaware State Police say the officer was injured late Thursday evening while he was helping a woman who had crashed her car along on Interstate 95 at U.S Route 202.

Police say 18-year-old Joshua Hall of Wilmington struck the woman's car, and her car then hit Wilmington Police Sgt. Robert Johnson.

Johnson was flown to Christiana Hospital with a serious head injury. He is in stable condition.

The woman, 22-year-old Tonya Mickens, suffered an injured foot.

Hall is charged with vehicular assault and DUI.
