MAYS LANDING, N.J. (AP) - June 20, 2009 Joseph Mauro, a Lacey Township resident who coached at St.
Joseph's High School in Hammonton and was a math teacher there,
also was ordered Friday to serve 364 days in the Atlantic County
Jail and three years' probation. However, Mauro will not have to
serve any jail time as long as he either works or attends school
full time.
The 31-year-old initially was charged with aggravated sexual
assault in the January 2008 incident involving a 15-year-old boy at
a wrestling practice.
However, he pleaded guilty in April to child endangerment,
admitting he used excessive force and had contact "with (the
victim's) private area."
