DOVER, Del. - August 13, 2009 The leagues have asked for a quick appeals court ruling on a
federal judge's denial of an injunction that would have barred
sports betting from starting with football season early next month.
In denying the injunction, the judge noted that several
professional sports teams have ties to casinos.
In a court filing late Wednesday, attorneys for the state
suggest that the leagues may be pushing for an expedited appeal
because they don't want a complete record developed on how they are
profiting from sports gambling.
