Estate of famed soprano Beverly Sills up for sale
NEW YORK (AP) - October 1, 2009 Costume designs, artwork, furniture and jewelry are among the
items up for sale next Wednesday at Doyle New York auction house.
The auction house will host a preview party Thursday evening.
The New York City Opera, where the Brooklyn-born singer's career
first flourished, is co-hosting the event.
The Sills collection includes fine art, handbags, photographs
and opera memorabilia from the late singer's home overlooking
Central Park.
Sills, an opera diva known for her dazzling voice and bubbly
personality, died in July 2007. She was 78.
