Suspect shot by victim with own gun

NEW CASTLE, Del.. - November 9, 2009

Police say a 21-year-old man was walking on West Avenue when he was approached by 17-year-old Diamere Brady of Wilmington. Brady had a gun, police say, and he tried to rob the 21-year-old.

However, the victim was able to get the gun away, and shot Brady twice in the torso.

Following, the incident, police say, the victim called officers and turned over the gun. Meanwhile, police said Brady called 911 to report he had been shot.

Brady was taken to Christiana Hospital where he underwent surgery.

He was charged with robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

No charges have been filed against the 21-year-old.
