Driver in custody after roughly tossing baby

JUNIATA PARK - January 6, 2010

It happened late Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia's Juniata section at the intersection of M Street and Erie Avenue, according to authorities.

Police say the woman driver had a mother and her 9-month-old child in the car. The driver stopped the car. When the mother refused to the leave the car, the driver took the car seat with the baby attached and reportedly roughly threw it down to the ground.

Though medics transported the child from the scene to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, the baby is said to have no injuries.

The driver is in custody, but has not been charged. Police say she may be charged with recklessly endangering the welfare of a child and another person.
