It happened around 12:11 p.m. in the 500 block of Walnut Street.
When rescuers arrived, they located a person who was stuck in the basement.
They worked for about an hour to free that person, who was brought out shortly after 1:00 p.m.
A fire spokesman says the worker was doing renovations, when a 12-foot concrete wall collapsed on his chest.
Firefighters used airbags to free him.
We're told he was alert when paramedics wheeled him out of the house.
