If you need some extra money to tide you over for a while, you might not consider getting a loan from a pawn shop, but maybe you should. From the outside, Carver W. Reed in Center City looks like any other high-end jewelry store.

But inside, it looks more like an old-fashioned bank.

So what is it? Well, a combination of the two.

It is a pawn shop where you can get loans by putting your diamond and gold jewelry up for collateral.

Carver W. Reed will make loans for just about any amount and you can borrow the money for one day or ten years!

If you're worried you might be giving up your items for good, here's a statistic: 95% of the people who put their jewelry up for collateral end up getting their items back.

Carver Reed is celebrating its 150-year anniversary on Tuesday, May 11th at 5pm.
