Allentown student charged in machete attack

Police have charged an eastern Pennsylvania teen who allegedly assaulted a fellow student with a machete after school.

Police in Allentown say 17-year-old Luis Manuel Roman attacked the 16-year-old victim Wednesday, slashing the boy after school let out. They say Roman and two others stole a backpack, jewelry, cell phone and cash from the victim before fleeing.

Investigators tell The Morning Call of Allentown the victim recognized his attacker as a fellow student at William Allen High School. Police soon arrested Roman.

Roman is in custody facing charges including felony counts of aggravated assault and robbery. Authorities say he will be arraigned later Thursday.
