Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter kicked off tax season on Friday with an event to remind families of the help available to them in the city.

The Campaign for Working Families is there to help families with free tax filing assistance.

It offers e-filing, direct deposit, U.S. Savings Bonds and the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completion, public benefits applications and fairly-priced financial products.

The Campaign operates 11 community based tax sites that opened January 25, 2012.

The Campaign's services are available to families earning $50,000 or less, and to individuals earning $20,000 or less. The locations and hours of service of the Campaign's free tax sites are available on the website or call 311. Taxes are prepared by IRS-certified volunteers.
