Target announced Wednesday that it is going where no chain has gone before.

The retailer says it will now price match online deals.

Here's why.

Many of us go to retail stores like Target to get a firsthand look at products, check them out, size them up and then do a little online comparison shopping to get the best deal.

Well, Target is apparently tired of what's called "showrooming": looking at the items in their store then buying them online.

So it's upping its defense in the battle of brick and mortar.

From now on, Target says it will PRICE MATCH deals you find online from Amazon, Best Buy, Toys R Us and Walmart, right there in the store.

All you need is your best shopping buddy, your mobile phone, to prove the lower online price, and Target says it will match it.
