Ready for spring? Old Man Winter says not yet

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- Most who ventured onto Atlantic City's Boardwalk Sunday either bundled up or hitched a ride on the cold and rainy first day of spring.

The pending snow wasn't even on one North Jersey couple's radar.

"I am not loving spring at all. I actually wish the temperature was a lot warmer. We came out without our jackets," said Ronnie Garcia of Englewood.

By 8:30 p.m., flakes began falling along the Atlantic City Expressway in Hammonton.

Road crews had been getting ready for it throughout the day. In Camden County, officials say more than 100 pieces of equipment were loaded and waiting.

"We're going to make sure that all the motorists that are out there. That our county roads are passable," said Susan Angulo, Freeholder.

Since some already have a touch of spring fever, Old Man Winter's return isn't welcome.

"It's annoying. I want it to be over already," said Joe Palmer of Mullica Hill.

"I'm looking forward to spring. Give me spring already," said Thelma Finneman of Egg Harbor City.

And the first day of spring meant free Italian ice and long lines at a Rita's in Absecon.

The near-freezing cold was not enough to deter a church youth group.

"Rain, sleet, or snow. It's Rita's and it's free," said Jeff Conley of Egg Harbor City.

"If you gotta be cold, it better be good," said Eugenia Gunn of Gallaway.
