One of the six Baltimore police officers charged in Freddie Gray's death has a longtime history in South Jersey.
Officer Ed Nero was a volunteer firefighter in Washington Township, Gloucester County for ten years.
He worked there from 2002 to 2012.
Fire Chief John Hoffman talked to Action News by phone today and spoke highly of Nero, calling him a solid guy and an outstanding firefighter.
He would not comment on the charges Nero now faces in Baltimore.
