The Bayville dinosaur has lost its head

BAYVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) -- A large piece of an Ocean County landmark is missing.

If you drive by the Bayville dinosaur on Route 9 you've probably noticed the change.

Berkeley Township officials removed its head because they feared it was in danger of falling off.

The chunk, weighing more than 150 pounds, is being kept somewhere safe.

A special committee, dedicated to saving the dinosaur, is planning a fundraiser to pay for repairs.

The dinosaur has been looking out over Route 9 since the early 1930s.
