Amtrak experiencing lengthy delays due to downed wires

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There have been some travel headaches amid the holiday rush over the weekend.

Amtrak service was delayed between Philadelphia and New York after service was suspended for a couple of hours Sunday morning. Services have since resumed.

Officials say the issue was caused by downed power wires blocking the tracks.

The railroad says two of Amtrak's four tracks along the route have been returned to service .

Amtrak says people traveling along the Northeast Corridor should expect lengthy delays.

The suspension and delays come on one of the busiest travel days of the year ahead of the Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa holidays.
