Contracted driver dumps Amazon packages in Roxborough: Gray Hall reports on Action News at 5 p.m., January 10, 2018 (WPVI)

Deb Martelon orders packages from on a regular basis and has never had a problem, that is until Tuesday night.

She was waiting on an order and noticed a delivery driver in the neighborhood. Her box didn't come but when she looked out the window she said saw several boxes out in the snow.

"They were not at the door, they were just lying in the snow on the side of the road, spaced out, a couple of feet a part," said Martelon. "Seven total packages."

Being a concerned neighbor, Martelon posted an alert on Facebook. That's when she discovered this was a widespread problem.

"There were a lot of people who then started to post 'Hey, I am expecting a package. Is one of them mine?' and then we noticed there was somebody who posted about Martin Street, who had 20 packages delivered and none of them were hers," said Martelon. "The cops came to pick them up and delivered them."

Amazon is aware of the problem and said a company they used to deliver packages didn't uphold its standards of making sure packages are delivered properly.

Amazon issued a statement, saying: "We are addressing this with the delivery service provider, and will continue to work directly with customers on matters related to package delivery."

Jaclyn Ocumpaugh also lives in the Roxborough neighborhood.

She wasn't waiting on a package, but believes the same delivery driver who misplaced packages put the wrong box at her doorstep.

"I don't know if it is cheerios or if somebody has ordered medical equipment that they really need, or how much is this really hurting somebody else," she said.

Many living in this Roxborough neighborhood want Amazon to take notice. They also said they hope this is an isolated incident.

"It is your company, you contracted them," said Martelon. "Regardless if is your driver or not, it is your company. You are ultimately responsible for that."
