CHICAGO -- Family friendly, cost efficient vehicles are forefront and center at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show. The 2016 Chevy Equinox compact SUV has revised styling, new safety features and is available with a Wi-Fi hot spot.

The 2016 Acura RDX compact crossover made its global debut on media preview day with enhanced styling, more horsepower and better fuel economy.

The Chrysler 200, with a starting price of under $22,000, was just named the family vehicle of the year by the Midwest Automotive Media Association for comfort, fuel economy style and safety.

"Stuff like adaptive cruise full stop, lane departure with keep assist, so we have the best of the best in this vehicle," Andy Love, Chrysler, said.

Consumers can take a 3-D ride through the Chrysler plant where the Chrysler 200 is assembled. Go under the hood and beyond.

There's more high-tech at Hyundai where Apple Car Play and Android Auto allow smart phone users to mirror apps and functions from their phone to the car's built-in screen.

"But in a way that reduces driver distraction. When you text with people, it's via voice, it dictates text to you, you dictate text back," Rob Lescaille, Hyundai Motor America, said.

At Ford, there's fun at the new Interceptor exhibit where a well-heeled spokes-dog steals the show. And of course for eye candy, there's the super-sleek 2016 Ford GT Concept, which is scheduled for production in select global markets to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ford GT racecars.
