Man brutally beaten in home invasion, restaurant robbery

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police need your help finding the man who they say severely beat a man during a home invasion robbery in West Philadelphia.

It was 4:38 a.m. Tuesday when the suspect entered an apartment above the Eagle's Corner Chinese food store located on the 6200 block of Spruce Street.

Police say after gaining entry the suspect used a blunt object to severely beat the 48-year-old store employee who was asleep.

The suspect went on to take cash from the store below before fleeing.

The victim was transported to Presbyterian Hospital where he remains in guarded condition.

The suspect is described as a black male, 20 years-of-age, wearing a zip-up hooded jacket "Nike" logo on the upper left chest, and cargo pants.
