ALBERTA, Canada -- One Canadian man could win the Boyfriend-of-the-Year Award for putting his life on the line to save his girlfriend's dog from an attacking cougar.
Elvis Xerri was sleeping when he heard the attack around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning and he jumped to action.
"The dog is on its back right there and the cougar's on top of him," Xerri said. "And I sat on him about right here on top of the cougar and then just grabbed the cougar and threw it as far as I could."
The dog, a Bernese mountain dog named Boomer, has a wound on his head, but is expected to be okay. Xerri wasn't hurt.
