SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer who was responding to a call is recovering after a crash on South Street.
It happened at 2 a.m. Tuesday.
A 3rd District officer was responding to the 300 block of South Street near Randolph Street, where two people reported they had been assaulted.
Following that assault there was a foot pursuit and reports that the suspect was armed.
Police say as the officer proceeded down South Street with her lights and siren activated, her patrol car was hit by a bread delivery truck at 11th Street.
The 45-year-old female officer was rushed by police to Jefferson University Hospital where she was treated and released for minor injuries.
Meantime, other officers were able to arrest a suspect in the assault case the officer was responding to.
The Action Cam was at 5th and South streets as that man was taken into custody.
