Delaware Co. police pursuit ends in crash, foot chase in West Phila.
WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A police pursuit that originated in Delaware County, came to an end in West Philadelphia Monday afternoon.
It was shortly after 4 p.m. when Darby Borough police saw two men allegedly selling crack cocaine. Police say the two men then jumped into their rented car, and that's when the pursuit began.
The chase led into West Philadelphia, and really stepped into high gear in the area of 58th and Catherine streets.
It was around 52nd and Catherine when the suspects' vehicle crashed into three cars, then collided with two parked vehicles. The suspects bailed out of their car, and police then pursued the the men on foot.
Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker explains, "The occupants of the vehicle both fled. One was apprehended a short distance from the car by a Darby or Philadelphia police. The second person ran into a laundromat close by to here, changed his clothing, and was caught on a SEPTA bus that he got on when he fled the scene. So, both individuals are in custody."
Four people were injured in the crash. Two men and two women were transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital - all complaining of neck and back injuries.
Both suspects were transported back to Darby Borough. They are facing a list of charges, including aggravated assault.
