Two boys were rescued from the Delaware River in Tacony.

TACONY (WPVI) -- Two boys were rescued from the Delaware River in Tacony on Tuesday night.

Philadelphia police and the Burlington County Bridge Commission Police were called o the river under the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge near 6400 State Road just after 6:00 p.m.

Police say a 10-year-old boy slipped and fell in river.

An 11-year-old boy jumped in to help him.

Both boys were able to hold on to a wall on the side of the river.

Police officers dropped life preservers into the river and pulled the boys out.

The boys were treated at Saint Christopher's Hospital for Children.
