PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Democratic National Committee is looking for 10,000 good men and women to volunteer for the Democratic National Convention this summer in Philadelphia.

The Democratic National Convention is coming to Philadelphia from July 25th to the 28th, and the host committee is looking for thousands of volunteers, ages 14 and up.

DNC Volunteer Director Hannah Tran tells us, "We're going to need a lot of folks in the area to come out and show support for Philadelphia, be ambassadors of the city, and show the visitors what a great city it is."

The bulk of the opportunities are for the week of the convention, but plenty of help is needed beforehand.

Jay Caplan moved to Old City last year and has been talking to various arts and community organizations about how they can participate.

Caplan says, "I thought this would be an exciting and interesting way for me to learn about the city, learn how the city functions."

It takes less than five minutes to sign up on the website. You can share a little about yourself and what you might be interested in.

Keep in mind, volunteers are not guaranteed access to convention-related events.

The Convention will be held at the Wells Fargo Center, but attendees will also be at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and around the city.

Greeters are needed at different events and locations - the roles available run the gamut.

Tran explains, "Greeters, admin help, we'll need transportation volunteers, so you could be a private driver, you could be helping with loading and unloading buses, teaching folks about our fabulous subway system."

24-year-old Tahir Stills began volunteering last fall, working to support community engagement efforts. His internship led to his current job, but he still plans to pitch in come July.

Stills says, "We have a lot of history here. We are a very great city and I'm glad that everyone else in the nation can see that.
