NORTHVALE, New Jersey -- Police say a dog in Northvale, New Jersey, helped save its owner.
Friday night, two women out for a walk told police they had heard a glass break in a home followed by a dog barking loudly.
Northvale Police Chief William Essmann says the dog broke a pane of glass and had started barking to get attention.
Police were able to enter the home, where Essmann says they found the dog's owner with an unknown medical condition that she may have suffered for an extended period of time.
She was taken to a hospital for treatment and the dog sustained a minor injury to one of its paws.
"We believe that the dog inside the home heard the two women talking as they walked past the home and broke the glass with its paws in an attempt to get their attention, which led to their owner being rescued," said the Northvale Police Department.
Police said they would like to thank "our Hero Resident K9 for saving their owner's life and the two women who "Saw Something and Said Something."
