A driver was injured after crashing a vehicle into a tree in Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A driver was injured after crashing a pickup truck into a tree in Wilmington, Delaware.

The crash happened at 12:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Kentmere and Bankcroft parkways.

Wilmington Police say the vehicle was traveling east when the driver lost control and struck a tree.

The force of the crash caved in part of the passenger side, causing heavy damage to the entire front end of the truck.

The driver was trapped and had to be rescued from the tangled metal.

He was rushed to Christiana Hospital in serious condition.

Police are working to determine what caused the driver to lose control.
