Family escapes, pets killed in house fire in Mercer County

HAMILTON TWP., N.J. -- A family escaped a fast moving house fire, but unfortunately their cats were killed in Hamilton Township, New Jersey.

The blaze started before 2 a.m. Wednesday on the unit block of Mae Drive.

A father, mother, and two boys were able to get out before the house went up in flames.

Two of the family members were checked for smoke inhalation as a precaution.

The fire marshal is working to determine the cause of the blaze.
