Social Security Administration releases top baby names of 2015

If you're on the look-out for a unique baby name, you might want to shy away from Emma and Noah.

Those were the most popular girl and boy names, respectively, of 2015, according to an annual list released Friday by the Social Security Administration. These are the same top names as last year, evidence of how trendy it is to use "raindrop" names -- those that have two or more syllables with four or fewer letters.

One of the most noticeable trends was the quick decline of the name "Isis." In recent years it has been ranked as high as number 522 for girls, but in 2015 it fell out of the top 1,000 girl names. Laura Wattenberg, the founder of the site Baby Name Wizard, said the drop by significant.

"The name Isis made an extraordinary plunge, far greater than, say, the decline in the name Adolph during WWII," a press release about her analysis says.

Another name of note: Caitlyn, with a 'C,' which dropped in popularity.

"Caitlyn fell by 28%, quite a large number given that Caitlyn Jenner's announcement came halfway through the year," reads the release.

As for names on the rise, one of the hottest girl names is Harper. Even though 13 years ago it was not even in the top 1,000 girl names, Harper cracked the top 10 for the first time in 2015.

One of the hot boys' names might surprise you. The name Benjamin has made its debut on the top 10 list.
