VIDEO: Mor than 6" of snow falls in Allentown

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- The snow began tapering off around 10 a.m. Thursday, leaving more than six inches on the ground in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

And the sun even made an appearance.

However, the winds are very strong and temperatures continue to rise.

PennDOT crews were out well before dawn working to stay ahead of the wet, sticky snow.

By 5 a.m. Thursday the snow was already falling steadily, and it was heavy.

Anyone venturing out was being advised to leave home early.

And for the kids, it's was the kind of snow that was good for making a snowman or throwing snowballs.

By 6:30 a.m. the snow began easing up.

Although the snow may be stopping, the roads are not clear yet.

One motorist from Allentown agrees. Janelle Walters said, "They are terrible, terrible. I'm trying to get to work. I'm already an hour late.

But for Kevin Montone who owns a snow removal company. He says, "Three this morning was pretty treacherous, sliding all over the road. There weren't many vehicles out besides PennDOT. Thank God it snowed. We are making money now."

Motorists should continue to use caution, and watch out for any slick spots.
