KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- The mother of a Philadelphia woman who was murdered in her home says the suspect sent her text messages before and after the crime.

Juan Camacho, 25, is charged with murder for allegedly strangling 28-year-old Veronica Rodriguez.

Rodriguez was found dead inside the home they shared in the 3200 block of Rorer Street in the Kensington section early Monday morning.

Rodriguez's mother, Maribel Guzman, says her daughter had recently broken up with Camacho.

Guzman, who lives in Florida, says Camacho actually sent her a Facebook message the night before the killing, asking for advice on how to win her daughter back.

The next morning, Guzman says, Camacho sent her another haunting message.

"He texted me and said 'I'm sorry, I killed your daughter," Guzman said.

Rodriguez's four children were home when she was killed. They're staying with other family members for now.

"She's a good, good woman, always happy, always bringing the family together," said Guzman.

Camacho allegedly called 911 around 2:45 a.m. to tell dispatchers he had killed Rodriguez. Police obtained his vehicle information and arrested him after a brief pursuit a few hours later.

Camacho is being charged with murder, rape, and other offenses.

A 24-year-old man is in police custody after police say he killed his girlfriend as her children slept nearby, then led police on a brief chase.
